The IPDF filmmakers present their projects under the guidance of Producers Giulia Caruso and Kelly Thomas who will give them feedback on their story and their pitch, as well as moderate the discussion among the group.

Music In Film: Greek composers working in Hollywood

Spielberg Theater @ The Egyptian Theater: 6:00-7:00 PM

LA – based Greek Composers Kostas Christides, Alexis Grapsas, George Kallis and Dimitris Mann discuss the use of music in film and their work in Hollywood. They have contributed music to award-winning documentaries and fiction films as well as TV shows and commercials. They have worked for big studios but also in independent cinema. The composers discuss their craft, the creative process, the collaboration with directors and producers, how music enhances the cinematic experience and serves storytelling.

The Filmmakers pitch their projects to our film experts in one-on-one meetings. A great chance to get in-depth feedback on their presentation, as well as on their projects, by industry professionals with years of experience in the film industry. Each expert meets with all presenting teams, 30 minutes/ each project (including presentation & detailed notes).

Screenwriting experts and the selection committee of the 2018 IPDF dedicate this afternoon to meeting with the filmmakers to discuss their stories and screenplays.

Tassos Boulmetis studied Physics in Greece and Film Production and Direction in UCLA. He directed TV, and in 1990 he wrote, directed and co-produced the film DREAM FACTORY that obtained 8 awards in Greece and the Golden Award of Fantasy Movies in the Houston FF. A TOUCH OF SPICE which he wrote, directed and co-produced, became a big hit in Greece with over 1,600,000 tickets sold and distributed in 45 countries, and was awarded with 8 Awards of Excellence in Greece. His third feature was MYTHOPATHY. He is a member of the European Film Academy. His latest film 1968, is screening at LAGFF during the Opening Night on Wednesday June 4.

Final Presentations

The Final Presentations is the culmination of our intensive 4-day workshop. The IPDF Filmmakers, having gathered feedback and advice, present their projects to a Jury of leading industry professionals specializing in International Independent Cinema. Each presentation will last 25 minutes, including presentation, feedback and discussion. After that, the Jury will deliberate to determine the winner of the Aegean Award that will be announced during the Closing Night Ceremony.

West Coast Premiere: PERFECT STRANGERS, 2016, T. Atheridis
The Aegean Award winner will be announced during the festival’s closing night ceremony. You can have your picture taken at 4:30pm on the red carpet. After the ceremony, join us at the courtyard for the closing night reception where we will dance, while enjoying wine and food.
