Araceli Lemos (IPDF Director) has been a programmer for LAGFF since the festival’s 3rd edition. She is a filmmaker based in Athens, Greece and Los Angeles, California. In Los Angeles, she works as a director with Nonetheless Productions. She founded the International Project Discovery Forum in 2013. Lemos has also worked as an editor for documentaries and as a production designer for films that have won awards in prestigious international festivals. She graduated with an MFA in film directing from CalArts.

Karina Logothetis (IPDF Production Coordinator) is a filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles, California and Athens, Greece. After working in the film industry in Greece mostly as an assistant director and script supervisor, she moved to LA where she is currently working as a fashion photographer while simultaneously is preparing several projects she will be directing. Her first short film VOURVOUROU, which she wrote and directed, is currently in festivals and has been awarded several times. Karina studied Photography & Audiovisual Arts and later on Digital Filmmaking in Athens.

Giulia Caruso (Consulting Producer) is an LA- based Italian award-winning producer and founder of Nonetheless Productions. At the 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards, she won the John Cassavetes Award for Andrew Ahn’s debut feature SPA NIGHT. Her latest feature, COLUMBUS, starring John Cho, Haley Lu Richardson and Parker Posey, premiered at Sundance and Rotterdam in 2017. COLUMBUS is self-distributed through the first Sundance Creative Distribution Fellowship and went on to gross over one million dollars at the box office. Giulia is an alumnus of the Sundance Creative Producing Summit, Film Independent Project Involve, Rotterdam Producers Lab, and Berlinale Talent Campus. She holds an MFA in Film Directing from Calarts.

Thouly Dosios (Advisor) holds a B.A. in Visual Studies from Harvard University and an M.F.A. in Film Directing from UCLA. She is a visual storyteller working in the mediums of still photography and film. Her short films have screened in festivals worldwide receiving many distinctions, including a nomination for a Student Academy Award®. Dosios is currently completing The Rituals of Waiting, a short documentary about the aspirations of women refugees living in camps on the Greek island of Lesvos, and developing her first narrative feature. She is also a Senior Programmer for the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

Joel Garber (Advisor) is a Milwaukee born filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He received his M.F.A. in Cinema from San Francisco State University. His films have screened at festivals around the world including the Palm Springs International ShortFest, the Miami Short Film Festival, the Wisconsin Film Festival, NewFilmmakers LA & NY, and the Canadian Film Centre. Joel makes a living as a Director, Writer, and Editor for clients such as CBS, HGTV, Animal Planet, and the L.A. Greek Film Festival. He is also the co-founder of the Interfaith Institute for Vulnerability and Family Darkness, a storytelling workshop and performance series.

 

Austin Hust (IPDF Intern) is an aspiring filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. He is currently a senior at Loyola Marymount University where he studies Communication Studies and Film, Media, & Television Studies. He is very passionate about film, and is seeking job positions from all parts of the industry. As someone who wants to help highlight many of those around the world who have important stories to tell, he strives to be a part of projects that represent a better future for the world of film and television. He sees the LAGFF as exemplary of this, and aims to contribute towards its success.

Saba Kinfe (IPDF Intern) was born in Oakland, CA and is a senior African American Studies major at Loyola Marymount University. Her passion for inclusivity and diverse representation of black people in the arts inspires her studies and recent independent research project on black women and their contributions to the art form of stand up comedy. She currently works as the assistant to a film and television director and is an aspiring film/television writer and producer herself.

Blake Middleton (IPDF Intern) is an aspiring Screenwriter from Arlington, Virginia. He is currently studying Screenwriting with a minor in History at Loyola Marymount University. He has a passion for the psychological horror and thriller genres but enjoys films from a variety of styles. He is constantly looking for new styles of writing and filmmaking in order to help improve his own. At the same time, he wants to assist others in sharing their stories with the world. He has interned in several production companies and film festivals.

Vaneza Paredes (IPDF Intern)
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Vaneza Paredes (IPDF Intern) just graduated from Loyola Marymount University, with a B.A. in English. With a passion for storytelling and love for literature, she plans to continue her educational career, by attending LMU in the fall to receive her Master’s in Literature. She will also start her career as a 4th grade teacher this upcoming school year. One day, she hopes to write her very own novel.

Nikos Papathanasiou (Volunteer) is a filmmaker from Greece currently based in London where he works as a production assistant on feature films and commercials. Back in Greece, he directed shorts in his hometown, Drama, and studied at the Democritus University of Thrace. He is currently preparing his debut feature.
