LAGFF 2020 ONLINE FESTIVAL FAQS

14th Los Angeles Greek Film Festival
October 1-15, 2020

1. Where are the films available?

Streaming is widely available except for some films that are restricted to the USA or North America only. These films are noted respectively.

2. How can I find a film that I would like to watch?

You can browse the website in several ways:

  • Under Films, you can search in feature, shorts, documentaries, or animation film categories
  • Or you can hit the Collections button, and see the films curated in groups of similar themes and/or genres.

3. What are the Collections?

Collections are curated thematic groups that we created to make browsing easier.
You can select to purchase individual films, or packages of films that come bundled at a special price.
Some films are only available as a group with other films at a special price.

4. How can I buy a film or a collection of films to watch?

For an individual film

  • Select the film you would like to watch and hit Buy Tickets. You will be directed to Elevent, our online box office.

For Collections

  • Select the collection of films you would like to watch and hit Buy Tickets. You will be directed to Elevent, our online box office.

All Access Pass

  • The best value is the All Access Pass which provides access to ALL 54 films!! You can find the All Access Pass button in many locations

With any ticket, collection or All Access Pass pass purchase you will be asked to create an account on Elevent. You will continue to use this account for any additional purchases you make.

5. How do I use the ticket to access the film/s that I bought?

This is how it goes:

  • When you buy a ticket, Elevent will send you two automatic response emails
  • The first email is your confirmation/receipt of your purchase
  • The second email will invite you to View the LAGFF streaming platform, which is called CineSend
  • Select the blue View button
  • You’ll be directed to https://watch.lagff.org/
  • Utilizing the email address that you used, you’ll be asked to create a password
  • This happens once.  With every subsequent visit to the platform, you will already be logged in

6. How can I stream the films?

6. You can view the films in several ways:

  • Pair your TV with
    • AppleTV
    • Roku
    • AndroidTV
  • Connect your TV and laptop through an HDMI cable
  • AirPlay from your iphone, ipad, Mac computer if you have AppleTV app

7. What are the requirements to run it from my computer?

Computer

– PCs running Windows 7+
Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. Internet Explorer is not supported.

– Intel-based Macs running macOS 10.12+
Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera

8. Can I watch the film from my phone or tablet?

Phone / Tablet

– iOS devices (iPhone, iPad)
Use Safari on iOS 11.2 or later
Screen mirroring is not supported, ensure it is turned off in your device settings

– Android devices
Use Chrome on Android 6.0 or later

9. How can I pair my TV to watch the films?

TV

– Download our dedicated L.A. Greek Film Festival app
On Roku or AppleTV (Gen4 and above) or AndroidTV, you download the

L.A. Greek Film Festival app and you are able to watch your film/s on your TV. 

– Cast from a computer or Android phone/tablet using the Chrome browser to a Chromecast device. 

To Chromecast from a mobile Android device:

  • Make sure your mobile phone or tablet is on the same network as your Chromecast device.
  • Tap the cast Icon in the lower right hand corner of the player. If no icon appears, this means casting is not supported on your device.

To Chromecast from computer:

  • Open the content in the Google Chrome browser.
  • Tap the cast Icon in the lower right hand corner of the player. If no icon appears, this means casting is not supported on your device.

– Airplay from a computer, iPhone, or iPad to an AppleTV (Gen 2 and above) or to any Smart TV bearing the “AirPlay” badge. 

  • If you have an Apple TV, or a smart TV enabled with AirPlay, set your computer, mobile device or browser to “AirPlay” or “cast” to the TV device.

– HDMI cable

You can also directly connect a laptop or computer using an HDMI cable by doing the following:

  • Connect one end of the HDMI cable into an available HDMI port on the TV. Take note of the HDMI input number it is being connected to
  • Plug the other end of the cable into your laptop’s HDMI out port
  • Set the TV to the HDMI Input port that the computer is connected to using the source or display button on your TV remote.
  • If your computer’s display does not automatically appear on your television screen, you may need to have the computer manually detect the display.
  • Windows: Right-click on the desktop > Display Settings > Click Detect > Click the “Multiple displays” drop-down box and select “Duplicate these displays”) > Click Apply.
  • Mac: Go to the Apple Menu > choose System Preferences > Choose the “Displays” panel > Hold down the “Option” key to show the “Detect Displays” button – note that it replaces the ‘Gather Windows’ button > Click on “Detect Displays” while holding down Option to use the function as intended.

10. How can I watch it from my phone?

Phone / Tablet

– iOS devices (iPhone, iPad)
Use Safari on iOS 11.2 or later
Screen mirroring is not supported, ensure it is turned off in your device settings

– Android devices
Use Chrome on Android 6.0 or later

11. Is there a certain screening time for each film?

No. All virtual on-demand content will be accessible from October 1-15.

-Ticket/Voucher holders

The single ticket holder can commence watching the film any time during these days. However, please bear in mind that once you hit the play button, you will have 72 hours to watch it as many times as you want. Once you start watching, you will see an indicator which displays how much time has remained to watch the film before it expires. We recommend you “play” the film at the time that you could complete watching the film within 72 hours.

-All Access and Collections Pass holders

The Pass holder, either All Access Pass, or Collections Pass holder, can view the films during all days of the festival 1-15 of October.

12. Can I stop and start while watching?

Yes. You can stop and start a screening during the 15 days of the festival. Only as described above, on a single ticket/voucher, you have 72 hours to play and replay, start and stop.
Pass holders have no restrictions.

13. Are there any other restrictions on accessing and screening the films?

-Single Ticket/Voucher

Yes. There is a security restriction, that lets you watch and rewatch your film during these 72 hours, but only using the same IP Address (the same router for internet, WiFi). So we recommend that prior to pressing the Play button, you confirm that you are at your desired location where you intend to enjoy the film over the next 72 hours. 

-Pass holders

No.  There is no restriction on where and when you watch your movies. All films are accessible during the 15 days of the festival.

14. Can I vote for a film?

We encourage you to rate the film you watched by indicating from 1 up to 5 stars.  There will be no Audience Choice Award this year, however there will be all 6 Orpheus Awards announced towards the conclusion of the festival.
