Murderess

Based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ landmark novel of the same name. Hadoula is a widow in the early 20th century on a dystopian Greek island. She has learned to survive in an extremely patriarchal society. Hadoula’s violent internal revolution soon comes forth, but as much as her faith and morals validate her actions, her transgenerational trauma follows her everywhere.

Eva Nathena was born in Crete. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she studied painting by Chronis Botsoglou and set design by Giorgos Ziakas. She worked as an assistant to set designer Dionysus Fotopoulos, and went on to work in theater and film alongside directors such as Costa-Gavras and Pantelis Voulgaris. She has been awarded the State Prize for Costume Design three times. Murderess is her debut feature film.
